Wayne’s Sport Massage
What is the nature of your business / what services do you offer?
I am a therapist sports massage offering deep tissue massage, cupping therapy, infrared sauna therapy, and cryotherapy.
How did you come to be in the industry you are in? What is your background?
I was a sports and fitness teacher originally. I worked for Everton FC and became a mentor during my 3 years at the club. At one point I began to get treatments for my own injury and became really interested in how the treatments worked for me. I wanted to learn more. My background in health and fitness meant I had good foundational knowledge so I decided to train further before starting my own business. I am always learning new techniques and continuously developing my skills so I can be the best at what I do in this ever evolving industry. My professional development is a priority for me and my clients.
I was based at a gym where I had my own clinic and that’s where I gained the clients I still have now. The gym moved to another location so that’s what I decided to start up myself. My friend knew about The Secret Warehouse, so they said come on let’s just knock and ask, and they actually had a room available. I saw it and accepted the room. It’s mad because it’s the first place I decided to go to, to start my business from.
I’ve been here now for over a year and have just moved into a bigger room where I can push the sauna as well as my therapy and massaging and introduce new therapies.
How would you like your clients / customers to describe your business?
A professional, friendly, and welcoming business.
What has been your greatest achievement to date?
Building a business from scratch. Getting a room in The Secret Warehouse only two weeks before we went into lockdown, yet my business continues to grow thanks to social media and recommendations within The Warehouse.
How does your business align with the values and ethos of the Secret Warehouse?
All about helping people, I enjoy making people feeling better. We all believe that everything happens for a reason.
How has being a part of the Warehouse community benefitted your business?
Being in The Secret Warehouse has given me a feeling of being part of a team. It’s a social hub and not just a business centre. You can tell everyone shares a similar outlook in here, we’re all here because we wanted to be part of a larger community of like minded positive people.
If you could give one piece of advice to anyone who wants to start their own business what would it be?
Get as much info as possible, don’t be afraid to ask for help.
If you’re thinking about it then go for it! There will always be a reason not to do something, but there are at least 100 other reasons you should do it.
