I have been running my bespoke fashion design and dressmaking business since 2005, and joined the Secret Warehouse family in 2015.
I’ve loved fashion since I was a child. I grew up watching all the glamorous old musicals of the 1950s and was obsessed with all the sparkly frocks and show-stopping gowns. As soon as I was old enough to hold a crayon, I started scribbling pictures of pretty dresses. I used to love dressing up my Barbie (and Sindy!) dolls and creating new outfits for them using fabrics from my dress up box.
So, it was only natural that, after school, I should move from art college to studying Fashion Design and Garment Technology. I then worked as a consultant for several sewing machine companies, including Brother, Elna and Janome. I loved the technical side of working with sewing machines and their inner workings – and how to utilise this technology to create bespoke outfits for friends.
Well, they say that good news travels fast, and I soon had enough clients to start my own bespoke dressmaking business and in 2005, Shameless Originals was born.
By 2015, not only was I creating bespoke outfits for my growing client base, I was also teaching sewing classes and workshops. I felt I needed more space for my growing collection of fabrics and sewing machines. I discovered The Secret Warehouse, and I knew as soon as I stepped inside the building, that I was home.
There is nowhere quite like The Warehouse. Built on the Law of Attraction, the support and love I have received since being a resident has been overwhelming and invaluable. They have truly given me the tools and motivation to succeed and expand my business. To be surrounded by supportive likeminded businesses is not only inspiring, but exciting and there is never a dull moment! I have loved watching the other businesses go from strength to strength. I can’t wait to see what the future holds!
